Just as god create things from abstract concept in the universe and makes them real, the architect reflect his/her interpretation and knowledge to the space they will create. Sinanfollowed an attitude in favour of simplicity in his buildings. Each of his works was designed to be different from the other and to adopt to the conditions of the environment. One of Sinan's most important characteristics is that he was an architect ahead of his time. In this contact, he is a revolutionary architect who provided the formation of his own unique language of ottoman architecture by researching the previous structures and adding his own interpretations to these works. Therefore, to understand Sinan is to understand an era. It's not possible to describe Sinan with a few sentences or to condine him to just one place. However, the structure can make you feel Sinan's mood and what he went through.

CONCEPT

Mimar Sinan is an architect ahead og the times not only with his architecture but also with the way he performed the architecture. According to Sinan, architecture is not only designing the building but also experiencing it on site and being involved in the design process with all its stages. For this reason, the idea that forms the main artery of the design, an architectural center forming the core in the centre, a museum organized around this architectural centre and the public spaces which feed it are considered. In this way, both the users of the architectural centre nad the visitors of the museum will have the opportunity to experience the current architectural works in the visual continuity provided by the atrium and public spaces. In order to bring the idea of integrity to the forefront of the building, volume containing all the units. The museum exhibition areas, workshops and working areas of the architectural centre are gathered under a shell. The building is rotated to be paralled to the museum entrance, fairground and culture road axis. Access is provided from the minus level of the building with the axis coming from this direction. The atrium, located at the minus level, provides natural light throughout the entire building while creating a holistic visuality by combaning with the design of the amphi atrium located at the entrance. The use of light was given importance in the design of the museum. The building itself is actually like a museum. The integration of the architecture centre and the museum provides visitors with the opportunity to understand and experience Sinan at all times The structure never actually separates the units from each other. It is to understand Sinan in Sinan. As the city is the collective memory of the people, it is said that the city is also associated with the memories of objects and places. In other words; the city, taken as a whole is a colection that contains many spatial and objective elements. "Connection" and "Permability" come to mind as two of the most important themes that will ensure the integration of elements with each other. In every environment where there is environmental awarness, an isolation that will provide concentration inside the building, as well as a setup that will integrate with the outside gains importance.

ENTRY

The 100th Year Mustafa Kemal Primary School, designed by TARHAN Architects, is located in Beşiktaş, Istanbul. The design and implementation processes of the 100th Year Mustafa Kemal Primary School were completed by Tarhan Architects, and the school continues its presence as a long-established public primary school in the Beşiktaş district of Istanbul.

CONTEXT

Design Approach: The 100th Year Mustafa Kemal Primary School, located in one of the most prominent areas of Beşiktaş, stands out not only as a public school but also with its deep-rooted history. Situated in Balmumcu, the building tries to maintain its existence like a “refugee” in a region with high urban density. For this reason, the conceptual approach to the project aimed to reflect this spirit of the school in the design. The effort of the school to "exist on its own and maintain continuity" despite the dense surrounding structures became one of the key priorities in the interior design.

A prevalent issue today is the relationship between buildings and their users, which unfortunately can be overlooked in many projects. In this context, this project aimed to focus on user experience, integrating users into the project as much as possible, and ensuring they harmonize with it. One of the main starting points of the project was the feeling of enclosure in the area and the lack of a sense of openness.

The goal was to create a more flexible and permeable space by avoiding fixed furniture. Some of the massive walls in the common areas of the building were demolished, and transparent surfaces were designed to provide permeability and visual continuity. This aimed to make the inward-facing, closed structure of the building more expressive. Visual access to these areas was ensured from every point in the building.

Material Selection: A meticulous approach was taken in material selection, considering modern technology and requirements. For this structure, where children are present in large numbers, materials were carefully selected from the most durable and least susceptible to wear. At this point, the aluminum metal cladding applied to some walls not only supports the aesthetic concerns of the design but also protects the walls from impacts and abrasions. The microcement - microconcrete materials used for the floors aimed to create durable and healthy surfaces. By using red and other color tones in some areas, the project was given a more dynamic and lively stance. The colors chosen for the materials were carefully selected to reflect the energy and vibrancy of the space.
